Ok, here is the long awaited part one of this awesome engagement session. Right when Christy and Jared booked they were set on doing a destination engagement session in Yosemite, CA. I was so excited because I have not been there since I was in the sixth grade and I have never shot an engagement session there either. I have only done a few destination engagement sessions but they are always extremely fun because I really get to know my clients in a much different way spending the whole weekend with them. Another advantage is I usually dedicate the whole time to making awesome images.
Jared is a huge fan of Ansel Adams, as am I, so we wanted to do a sort of homage to him with there engagement shoot. They both gave me so much creative freedom to shoot this session the way I wanted which I love. I also know that it must have been a little more difficult for Jared as he is an amazing and very accomplished artist with his films.
We set out to shoot at 6:30a so that we could really chase the good light all day in Yosemite valley. Our agenda was really determined by the light and of course our appetite's when we got hungry. Christy and Jared both were very inspiring to shoot and the whole weekend reminded me of why I love my job. It was not work at all but a day of creating with two amazing people that are madly in love. I found such joy in their interaction with each other. They are both very sarcastic and playful but have a real depth to their relationship and an honesty that is both inspiring and contagious.
I also have to thank Jonathan Metcalf from Met Media Video who came and filmed the whole shoot and is putting together an amazing fusion piece that I will show here on the blog as soon as he is finished with it. I will also be posting some teaser video as I get it from him. Ok, enough talk here are some of the images from the day!

Can we redo our engagement session just to get a shot EXACTLY like image #14 (the one where they're really small in the pic) of me and Johnny? It is BEAUTIFUL! Great job, Jeffrey!!

(10.20.09 @ 04:29 PM)I'm blown away man. Stunning. The shot with the craggy tree roots is incredible and the 1.2 mi. hike to mirror lake was totally worth it. Also, you know you're legit when you can use photographic magic to make Christy look sexier than me. I don't know how you managed to do that, but it worked.
(10.20.09 @ 04:40 PM)These are amazing! Gorgeous. I should have used this guy!
(10.20.09 @ 04:53 PM)Jeffrey! These are absolutely, positively, stunningly beautiful! Awesome job! Can Scott and I do a destination post wedding shoot? Does that exist? Can we make it exist? :) Hope you are well. Great images!
(10.20.09 @ 05:04 PM)Maybe it's because I know Jared... or maybe it's because they are in Yosemite... but I think these are some of the best photos you have taken for an engagement shoot. I mean, come on! Really? The fog shot? Incredible. I'm SOOO excited to see the footage Jon got.
Congratulations to Christy & Jared!

(10.20.09 @ 09:04 PM)It was so inspiring watching you take in each location you scouted and then find the perfect way to use it as a backdrop for portraying Jared and Christy's playfulness and passion. The one thing that can't be seen in every picture is Christy's high heels that she wore all day long; including the 2 mile round trip hike to Mirror Lakes. Excellent work. The colors are dead on to real life.
(10.20.09 @ 09:34 PM)Very Nice Job!
(10.20.09 @ 10:37 PM)Jeff-These pics are amazing!! You are beyond talented... your passion for photography is inspiring and is comes through in each and every picture! Jared and I had such a great time! Thanks again!
